Authors' note: Don't ask where this came from, i was just bored, and in a sad mood.
"Ares must die!" yelled Hercules as he plunged Helio's dagger in Ares' chest.
"NOOOO!" Xena sobbed as she ran to her beloved, "Please, Ares, don't leave, I love you!"
"Xena, I'm sorry. I love you" Ares whispered with his last breath. Xena stood up, with streams of tears running down her face, and turned to Hercules.
"Xena, this si for the better, he was evil Xena, there was no good in him, he would of killed us. He never cared for you Xe, this was for the best" said Hercules.
"No! You're wrong! You're wrong! He wasn't evil hercules. You never knew him, never took the time to know him. He changed, Hercules, he loved me. And you killed him!" sobbed Xena. It had started to rain, and now you couldn't tell which was rain, which were tears. Gabrielle and Cyrene stepped to comfort her. "No, don't touch me, you don't understand."
"What don't we understand?" Cyrene asked gently
"What he did for me, what we shared." She spread her arms, and a mirror like object appearead, as wide as her arms. Images played there. "Look" she told them

"We" said the youngest, as Xena and Ares stood in front of the Fates
"The Fates," said the next one,
"Within the chakram," said the crone
"Bind your souls together for eternity" said the youngest
"May you feel each other's pain and happiness."
"Your hearts are entwined" said the crone.
"Your love is eternal." said the youngest.
"By the wishes of Ares, God of War, and Xena, Warrior Princess," said the next,
"We seal this love." said the Crone
"So mote it be!" finished all the fates.

"You - you were bonded by the fates?" sputtered out Hercules. Xena nodded, "But - he was supposed to protect you at all times, he didn't!" Xena just smiled, and the picture changed

Xena slept peacfully by the campfire, unware of the war god standing over her.
"Xena," he whispered to her," tomorrow, you will have a vicious battle, but you won't be hurt, I'll be there, I'll protect you, just like I promised. I still love you know, " he smiled as he dissapered, leaving a perfect black rose in her hand. In her sleep Xena smiled unknowingly.
"I'll always protect you" the wind whispered.

"he was always there for me." by now, the rain had stopped, and the sun had come out.
"Xena, I'm sorry" whispered Hercules. All of a sudden, the wind shifted, and Xena heard Ares voice on the wind once again:
"I'll always protect you, and I'll always love you. We'll meet again my princess, after all, we're bonded for eternity." Xena smiled, her heart at peace as she walked away from her town, her friend, and her love's body. She walked to a new beggining.
