Xena sat against a tree trunk by her house in Amphipolis trying to find comfort in her hometown after Gabrielle’s death. Silently tears from her sapphire blue eyes made their way down her cheeks when Xena felt tingles go up her spine that alerted her of the presence of the God of War. She was about to say something rude when she felt strong, warm arms enfold her. Immediately she forgot about all her hurt, fears, and grief and she leaned back against his chest letting his presence comfort her...

As Xena slept Ares silently appeared by her. He stroked her silky tresses and kneeled by her bed. He gently took her in his arms and vigilantly watched over her till dawn came. She never knew he came for she was dreaming dreams of the future...in which she was with him...

Ares dreamed a dream in which Xena accepted his love and let him keep her safe. They were together once again. They danced under the moonlit sky while Xena smiled her angelic smile which made Ares’ heart soar...

Xena lay under the starry night sky her head filled with memories. She saw his handsome face with his short, dark hair. She felt his fiery kisses as if they had happened just a few minutes ago, and she tasted his sweet lips on hers. Most important of all...she saw the love shining from his eyes...

Xena felt a lightness in her spirit as Ares smiled back at her as they danced together, melting into each other. She felt free as she gazed into his warm brown eyes with the cool water splashing her feet. Everything was perfect...if only it wasn’t a dream...

Ares felt pain fill his chest as he watched his princess’ ice blue eyes spill tears. He wished that she was with him so that he could comfort him, but he knew that she would never accept that he had feelings just like everybody else...maybe someday...
